I had an aviary escapee hand-raised PBFD female Regent parrot for 5 years,
who shed all her beautiful long tail feathers in the first year, and then
continued to drop feathers, most of which were deformed as a result of the
disease, but were incredibly vibrant and colourful nonetheless. I kept all
of them and now have 2 envelope-fulls. Unfortunately she died last year.
Gorgeous bird, very clingy & sooky but great companion.

I agree with you the Barn Owl's are beautiful - I remember plucking quite a
few when I came across two just-killed birds within 100 metres of each other
on the Hay Plain (NSW) in May this year - the car was full of fluffy white
floating bits for hours..hehehe
I also have an crippled male Eclectus parrot as a pet and he gives me many
beautiful feathers.

I do the same, or at least did the same until my wife decided it was enough.
I don't actually collect feathers, although that'd be a good idea. The
nicest feathers I think are those of the common Barn owl. Simply beautiful
both to look at and to touch.
As I said, my wife put a stop to it, deciding that I was becoming
unhealthily obsessed. She's not much of a birder.
