The current Atlas is showing a greater than 50% reduction in reporting in
all states of the White-throated Needletail since the first Atlas of 1977 -
1981. This is a large decline.
The NSW Bird Atlas data also shows a decline of a similar amount through
the 1990's. Curiously the decline appears to have begun about 1991 after
being reasonably high in the Eighty's.
The Forked-tailed Swift is showing about a 40% reduction in reporting
between the Atlases which is a moderate decline. The NSW Bird Atlas has too
little data to make sense of.
