Your parrot might be an escapee - possibly an Indian Ringneck with long
thin tail. Quite common as a cagebird. Try a book on aviary birds, or
visit a bird-dealer, if you can bear it. Warning: they often use out of
date names such as Smoker for Regent Parrot.(Last one I saw when buying
a cage for my daughter's Zebra Finches, many years ago, told me that the
Scarletbreasted Parrot was completely extinct in the wild and only
existed because of the zeal of aviary keepers! It's all because of us
so-called birdlovers who had hawks put on the protected list!)
