Howdy All

It has been reported to me from a reliable source that two Jabirus were
present in the Cooper Creek wetlands earlier this year. This apparently
being a first for SA.

Also, there was another single bird at Lake Machattie in QLD about 2 months
ago and one or more sighted at Jackson just over the border in Qld recently.

I will provide extra details as they come through. Thought this was worth
mentioning in the hope it may stimulate some further discussion and
hopefully further reports of unusual observations of this species.

This adds further to other unusual sightings viz Comb-crested Jacana in
Adelaide (Ian and Pat May about August 2000) and a pair of Red-winged
Parrots in eucalypt woodland of Finke Floodout, NE of Dalhousie area of
Witjira NP about six weeks ago.

Amazing what buckets of rain and extensive floodwater can cause.

Cheers
