g'day All,

Another one to add to Paul Taylor's list is the "Collared
Sparrowhawk"

The female is hard (impossible ?) to identify from
the male Brown Goshawk which is of a similiar size.

The Reader's Digest "Complete Book of Australian Birds" lists
Chicken-hawk under "Other Names" for both species.

J.D.McDonald's  1987 "Illustrated Dictionary of Aust
Birds" says....
"Popular name given to any known raider of chicken-runs,
like the brown goshawk, collared sparrowhawk and the brown
falcon."
