Paul,

I have been a couple of days late collecting my emails and was deeply
saddened to hear the news that Tony lost his battle with cancer. My
deepest sympathy to his family and yourself.

Although I only got to know him a couple of years ago I am grateful for
the opportunity of meeting such a lovely man. We would sometimes have
long conversations about the wader counts he did for our group in the
Coombabah/Gold Coast area. I would give him a hard time but Tony would
always manage to be happy, funny and quite whitty. You could never get
angry with him, he would always turn things around. I'm thankful for
the extra time he spent convincing me to come on the Southport pelagics
and assuring me I would not be seasick (which I wasn't). I have my
records to remind me of the lifers I got during the trips, which will
always remind me of him. I was hoping that he would be well enough for
me to join you both and the rest of the group on another one. Sadly
that will not now happen.

My last meeting with him was as usual, fun with plenty of laughter from
us both while discussing waders at Coombabah Lake. I know there are
many people who share your sorrow.
