Koels and parenting

During late January I observed a juvenile Koel being fed grapes by its
hosts, Red Wattlebirds. Not unusual. This happens nearly every year in our
garden and surrounds (southern suburbs of Sydney)... if not grapes, then any
left over mulberries. However this year I observed a watchful male Koel
sitting close by and chucking quietly. It was observed near to the juvenile
Koel on several occasions. Is this one means of passing on Koel behavioural
characteristics and inherent knowledge? Have others observed this parental
concern by adult Koels after the egg has hatched?
