Peter,

we abided by rules that were set in Vic for the Qld twitch. The reality is
that qld is a little too large for all teams to finish in one place. We
finished where every other team in our region finished because we were the
only team in the region. In the past we've finished in Cairns, but that
involves a 4-5 hour drive home afterwards and thats just tedious and
dangerous.

There's a few problems with the rules as they stand. I was impressed when
up against the Dirty Harries and Richard Loyn's team a few years ago, with
just how tight your tactics were and how many birds you saw. I wonder if
our team is comparable. How can we ever compare a run in Vic verse one in
Tas verse one in Townsville? One answer is to collect a few statisitcs,
partition the differences in local species richness and derive some
regional handicaps so that we can compare local knowledge, skill, planning
and luck accross the country.n But I don't knoww that anyone has kept much
data from the past.
