I'd like to congratulate everyone who took part in the recent
Twitchathons. Our team had a great time - win or lose, it was a great
weekend. I suppose winning helps you see the brighter side :-)
(Have a look at our tired but smug faces on Lawrie's website at
http://www.users.bigpond.com/ocoineoil/sections/cdph.html)

I would like to give a hearty thanks to the organisers
of the event and those who helped out at the celebratory feast at the end
- great food by Khalid! Also to Rev. Chris Coleborn who gave several
teams some very useful information, and more importantly, is a very
valuable and helpful source of information on birds and their
habitat in nw Victoria. One of the best things about our weekend was
meeting him just before the cannon fired at 3pm.

I also must thank Sean Dooley and his Bush Turkeys (Peter Lansley, Paul
Peake, Andrew Stafford) for being such good sports when there was a
counting mix-up at the presentation. As Sean commented (after they were
initially but incorrectly placed 1st) they are running out of ways to
secure 2nd place, which they've done almost every year - quite some feat!

Finally, thanks to the Common Driving-Petrolheads for another great
twitchathon - I can't recommend the event highly enough. If you weren't
involved this year, make sure you get a team together for next
year's twitchathon. I (or someone from Birds Australia) will let you know
how much was raised for bird research - last year was $3,000 - what more
incentive do you need???

Cheers
