Hi Birders,
I consider that Laurie Living's comments about the Oil Spill in Sydney
Harbour, ie the media playing it down and the NSW Politicians not
standing up for the environment are somewhat exaggerated statements that
he has made in order to bolster his own argument. Maybe that is the view
one got in Melbourne but it was not the case here! The story saturated
the Sydney and Regional news for days, I thought every politician who
could possibly have anything to say was out there expressing concern,
even Jonnie Howard had something to say (not that it was of any
importance), and that the NSW Government responded as it should have!
The fact of the matter is that light crude oil does not do the damage
that heavy crude and or bunker oil does (ie the Tasmanian Disaster in
1997?). I think Laurie needs a better example to bolster his argument.
