Hi Birders,
Bette Mitchell has inferred that there are some concerns that the number of
Kelp Gulls are increasing in Victoria and other people have indicated that
this fact may have a detrimental influence on the number of Pacific Gulls
overall. In New South Wales, since the NSWFOC have been producing their
Annual Bird Report from 1970 onwards, there has been an increasing number of
Pacific Gulls seen here. In 1995, there more observations of Pacific Gulls
than ever before and they were seen at 11 sites from Eden to Botany Bay,
while in 1997 one was seen for the firt time at Newcastle.
