<Harvey Perkins ask whether nesting Bazas at Dungog, were unusal and
whether the impression that he received from HANZAB that nesting South
of 30 Degrees (Grafton) was spasmodic, was correct?>

Hi Harvey,
Thanks for the note about the nesting Pacific Bazas at Dungog, I do not
need further information as I will put your observatiosn into the
"Unusual Sightings " section of the Feb 1999 FOC Newsletter, however the
HBOC will be interested in more details for their Annual Report

And yes, HANZAB do give rthe impressiuon that nesting south of Grafton
with this species is spasmodic but this is not the case! Annual regular
nesting at certain locations in the northern suburbs of Sydney and the
Central Coast does take place . Eg John Carpenter at Murrumbung HSD,
Mardi (near Tuggerah, has had them nesting on his property annual since
about 1993, often within 400 m of the previous years nest, sometimes he
does not find the nest but subsequently sees the adults with young
around his house.. Most years the CCFOC reports several breeding
records, often at repeat locations. However this information was not
available at the time the HANZAB was being prepared.
