<John Clifton-Everest reported a Channel-billed Cuckoo flying over Glebe and asked if this was unusual> Hi John, In the 1980s it would have been unusal to see CBCs over inter suburban Glebe but not anymore. Along with large Moreton Bay Figs and Ficus hilli that are widely planted in Glebe which provide food, and plenty of Currawongs for hosts for their young, Glebe is just as attractive now as Sydney's North Shore for Channel-billed Cuckoos.. However your observation and that of Alan Leishman's of CBCs in the Royal Botanical Gardens will be mentioned in the "Unusual records" section of the Feb 1999 NSWFOC Newsletter. Info on the increase of Channel-bills and Currawongs in the Sydney Region has been published in a number of places. alan Morris Records Officer NSWFOC |
