Hello all... Lorne here... I'm back from Cowra. Saw a SUPERB PARROT some 3km out of Cowra on the road to Wyangala Dam. It flew over some flood-plains/paddocks... direct flight, sharp long tail, curved pointed wings. Quite a large bird actually! Another new bird for me!!! Didn't see much else birdwise. Did call for Barking Owls at a property near Wyanagala Dam, but to no avail. According to a local out there the land about Cowra is the best he's seen it his whole life! He's 50 odd. Indeed the land is luxuriant and incredibly emerald!!! Patterson's Curse is everywhere, giving this purple punch to the landscape too!!! Beautiful countryside - quintessential Australia really! Get out there if you can. Cheers and eventful birding, lgj |
