On Sunday (6th April) I saw a large party of Spine-tailed Swifts over
Braidwood (NSW), at least 100. Isn't this exceptionally late for this species?

I saw 24 "White-tailed Needleswifts" on Sat 5th just before sunset, and
another 3 early morning on Sunday 6th, flying about over our house in
Kambah, a suburb of Canberra, ACT. Which was nice 'cause I hadn't yet seen
them in Canberra this year even though they've been around. According to
the ACT Bird Atlas there are occasional stragglers still reported as late
as the first week of April so it is certainly not unprecedented but the
relatively high numbers of them may be a little unusual.

Gee they're nice birds!!
