The 1996 Beach Nesting Survey organised by the Australasian Wader Study
Group is taking place on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th November with the
following weekend as spare. This survey follows on from similar counts
carried out in previous years. The last count in 1994 was directed
particularly at Hooded Plovers but this year in NSW the survey will be
extended to cover beach
nesting birds including oystercatchers,red-capped plover, pacific gull,
fairy/little tern. Reports of white-bellied sea eagles are also of
interest.

Phil Straw, the NSW Co-ordinator, is looking for volunteers to survey the
area from Old Bar to Tuncurry, south of Port Macquarie. I understand that
the coast of NSW is covered except for this part.

If anyone can help for the Old Bar/Tuncurry area could they please contact
Phil Straw:-
