Removing birds from the Australian list

On the weekend I got hold of a copy of the 1994 official Australian
birdlist. The topic came up in conversation - should the Ostrich still be
listed? Apparently there weren't very many to start with, and now that
Ostrich farming is worth a lot of money, I heard that the remaining wild
ones have been caught. Have the last ones been caught? Is there any
reason it should still be on the list? I'm interested to hear what others
think about removing birds from the list, once there is no longer a
possibility of seeing them.
