The consensus advice was: 1) as I suspected, MP3s are an unsuitable format 2) the iPod (and other similar devices) can play uncompressed AIFF or WAV files (22 kHZ, 16 bit) I can see many advantages to playing straight off of a hard disk for field playbacks. Greater portability than notebook computer, but more flexibility than using CDs. I'll give it a try this field season. Best regards, Scott. -- Scott A.
