I am not sure what you mean by " purely scientific point of view" but putting the data into eBird means it is readily available to scientists all round the world.  It also means that you can get easy access to data entered by scientists (Serious and citizen) for nearby areas.  

From my own experience the data is available within minutes (perhaps seconds) of the observer submitting the record

The eBird data can also be obtained classified by protocol type and various effort parameters to sort out which records match your own eligibility requirements.
