Dear all
Perhaps the campaign should now shift to making a visit to Christmas Island
more affordable for tourists/birders to boost that part of the economy!

Thanks Jenny,
Jeff Davies just pointed this out to me privately- I had completely
forgotten to factor in Brown Booby and had only considered Red-footed and
Masked juveniles when I saw the original image.

The bird is a nestling/fledgling Brown Booby. We saw plenty that look just
like this sitting on the rocks when we visited Christmas Island 18 months
ago. Abbotts Boobies look quite different & the nesting areas are in the
rainforest rather than the coastal volcanic rock areas, so even if one fell
from the nest I don't think it would end up in an area like this.

Looks like a Red-footed that's been incorrectly labeled.
