Hello Jason, You are certainly correct about your identification of this bird as a Little Eagle. Long time since I resided in Melbourne, but I reckon one of them at yarra bend park would be something rather special. Philip -----Original Message----- From: Birding-Aus On Behalf Of Jason Polak Sent: Wednesday, 9 May, 2018 3:21 PM To: Subject: little eagle: yarra bend park Dear List, So, I am fairly certain I saw the Little Eagle in Yarra Bend Park: http://jpolak.org/unknown/eagle.jpg Since I have never seen this species before, can anyone confirm this? Seems to be the only kind of raptor with this patterning. It was hovering high in the sky for a few minutes, and then flew away somewhere. Odd sighting for this area?
