A juvenile Channel-billed Cuckoo has been photographed on King Island,
Tasmania, over the weekend. A vagrant, but last recording of this species in
Tasmania was in 1905 and isn’t clear whether it was a live bird sighting or a
specimen possibly from somewhere else. Although it would be useful to have
them here to help control the large Raven population on the island, we don’t
want them. Too rambunctious! Still, interesting that it has got this far
south.
