The map in the Wikipedia page for FNQ shows that Townsville is below the
Far North Region. However the text begins " Various Government Departments
and agencies have different definitions for the region. This suggests that
caveat lictor is a good rule to follow as definitions will differ.
Many years ago I worked with someone from Gordonvale who talked about a
trip to South East Australia mainly to "...Brisbane and Sydney..." .

They have a scientific basis and are pretty stable. However, I'm not sure
how much they are used by the masses (even the birder subset of 'masses').
