c cv b. V. Even on books that are not available here, as well as s
econd hand books. The imposition of GST on products that are unobtainable
here, gets up my nose. Also, the non imposition of GST on goods that are
"walked through" customs gets up my nose as well. Sure, you are supposed to
declare goods of over $1,000.00, but few do it. When I was Working for AQIS
at Kingsford Smith, the amount of new photographic and tech goods we would
find while rummaging through luggage, was amazing. We would call over a
Customs muppet, who would invairiably just go "meh", no problem, even, as
in one case, it was a brand new 21/4 square Hasselblad and 3 lenses, some
$15k worth then. But, if you try and bring in a couple of extra bottles of
booze or more than the allowance in fags, they are on you like a ton of
bricks. Well that is my gripe for today.
