George Swann relocated the bird today (8th April) at Chile Beach near Lombadina.

Please note that the location is restricted access. Those wishing to look for
the bird should contact Roma Portalano at Chile Creek Community on 0438 849 837
for permission. They don't want people just wandering around randomly, so
please do the right thing. It's been hanging around for at least nine days, so
hopefully will stick around a while longer!

Cheers,

John

Hi all,

Broome Bird Observatory has been sent a photo (third-hand) of a Nicobar Pigeon
taken somewhere on the Dampier Peninsula near One Arm Point, north of Broome.
The timestamp on the photo suggests it was taken 29th March (thanks Rohan
Clarke). No further details at this stage but we're chasing it up. BBO are
currently running a course so staff will not be able to go looking for at least
a week or two.

Anyone considering chasing it if further details come to light, please be aware
of the entry requirements for many of the communities on the Dampier Peninsula
(usually just an entry permit that can be arranged in town)

This would be the second record for Australia and first for the mainland

Cheers,

John
