Thanks all who had input for this. Because the call was outside a bedroom here (ex-rainforest hills), I'm thinking maybe birds often make calls that are too quiet for us to hear — indeed, this may be the point of the quietness. So I'm going for Rose-crowned Fruit-Dove, at sound-quality unlikely to be heard usually.
