Just adding some praise for the bird...
What other bird covers the entire Australian map in terms of range?
Love seeing it no matter where I am in Aus.
Great personality.
My kids also do the Willie Wagtail dance.
Have missed most of this post (so apologies if I am repeating) but the new
guide "Birds of the Indonesian Archipelago Greater Sundas and Wallacea" lists
it as Willie Fantail.
It has (in the somewhat unfair brief description) AN (Alternative Names) Willie
Wagtail.
There are many, many name changes across many species in the new guide that I
have seen previously. A little confusing to be honest.
However there has been one expensive guide available for the entire the region
for many years. So this guide is worth purchasing.
Cheers,
Charles Hunter
