Huge predation by humans. Especially in PNG.

Subject: Predation on Birds of Paradise
Working through some introduction material for this family for a forthcoming
book about Birds of Paradise and Bowerbirds, it appears that predation on
members of this family is remarkably little-known.
Over 25 years living and visiting New Guinea and 20 odd years living amongst
Victoria’s Riflebirds, I have never seen any predation or found evidence of
any. You would think that brightly coloured displaying males might be
vulnerable to raptors, and presumably goannas and snakes must be a threat, but
does anyone have any observations of such predation?
Please let me know if you so, thanks and happy new year, with good birding of
course.
