Hi Tom et al.
I was staying at the in-laws on Burns Rd in Wahroonga (northern Sydney)
yesterday. I was excited to hear then see (presumably) the same flock of
Masked and White-browed Woodswallow a little before 10.30am yesterday.
Burns Rd is approximately 1km from Tom's sighting.
Was great to see the flock. I didnt get a full count like your did Tom as
the tall trees obscured full view of the flock but I saw about 30 birds, at
least 5 were Masked.
The flock was circling interestingly low unlike usual woodswallow flocks
which often fly quite high. No other species interracted with them while I
watched.
I used to see larger flocks over East Killara (app. 10km away) when I lived
there from 2009 - 2012. They often appeared ahead of hot dry weather.
Regards,
Kurtis Lindsay
