Hi I'm curious - are you? Normally by mid-August around where I live the air is thick with the calls of Pallid Cuckoos. One can barely move through the countryside edgewise without bumping into a few. It's nearly October and I haven't heard one around home, or in various other places up to Kyneton or down to Melton/Bacchus Marsh (southern edge of central Victoria) where I've been in the last month. There are a few bronze-cuckoos about (Shining and Horsfield's) and small numbers of Fan-tailed Cuckoos (including night-calling birds with this full moon). Interested to hear from anyone who does have Pallid Cuckoos arriving/arrived, or is this just a really odd year for the species? cheers ++++++++++++ Dr Lawrie Conole Tylden Vic 3444 Australia lconole [at] gmail.com

Birding-Aus mailing list

To change settings or unsubscribe visit:
http://birding-aus.org/mailman/listinfo/birding-aus_birding-aus.org
|
