Hi Tom and all 

This is indeed very sad news - Robert  had been many months in hospital after a 
major operation. 

Bob will be sadly missed in the south east Queensland birding world - he was 
passionate about the birds of his area and most particularly shorebirds,  and 
his detailed studies into birds such as the Wandering Tattler and others were 
always of great interest and immense value.

He was also a fine photographer of birds and I was fortunate to share time with 
him on a few occasions.
