Hi all,
With the kind permission of the observer John Anderson, a photo is now online -
see
https://picasaweb.google.com/101486094752558106417/WARareBirds#6100458830981430034
The bird was seen at 3.50pm yesterday afternoon, "from the western side of the
lake looking east towards Wanneroo, central / southern part of lake", and last
seen flying north
Update from this afternoon's relocation efforts (for those luddites not on
Facebook - like me!), I arrived at about 2pm and scanned from Picnic Cove for
30mins or so, before moving to the jetty at Edgewater Drive where I stayed
until about 5.40pm, and was joined by a number of other birders. Others
positioned themselves at other points around the lake. We did manage a good
range of raptors, highlighted by Peregrines and Square-tailed Kite, and a small
mixed flock of Banded Stilt and Red-necked Avocet. Then a report came through
of a resighting at 5.20pm, but this was later retracted by the observer. So as
far as I know, no resightings today
At least there were some fellow dippers there to share the pain!
Cheers,
John

Subject: [birdswa] CRESTED HONEY-BUZZARD at Lake Joondalup, Perth
Date: Sun, 4 Jan 2015 13:12:45 +0800
Hi all,
John Anderson has just sent a photo of a male Crested Honey-Buzzard to WA
Sightings. This was seen at Lake Joondalup in Perth's northern suburbs. No
further details on location as yet, nor the date of the sighting but I assume
(hope?!) the last couple of days
Anyway, I'm off!
Cheers,
John
