   Birdline Central & Southern Queensland

   Published sightings for the week ending 16 Nov 2014.

   Sun 16 Nov Wood Sandpiper, Pectoral Sandpiper Dowse Lagoon, Sandgate
   Wood and Pec Sand still present this evening with a small no. of
   Sharp-tailed Sands. Also c8 Latham's Snipes. Take your telescope as the
   water and birds are distant.

   Little Bronze Cuckoo, Spotless Crake Sandy Camp Road Wetlands
   Male Little Bronze Cuckoo seen on back lagoon along with 2 Spotless
   Crakes. Also at least 4 Glossy Ibis, 10 Sharp-tailed Sandpipers and 2
   Latham's Snipe on the drying out lagoon nearest the road

   Glossy Black-Cockatoo Foggs Rd, Closeburn
   A pair sitting quietly in the canopy.

   Australian Little Bittern Wallaroo Circuit Waterhole (North Lakes)
   Nice views of a male.

   Freckled Duck Black Duck Hole, Murrumba Downs
   Two birds at the southern end of the northern pool - viewable from the
   ramp off Blackall Road. Birds were sat in dead branches close to the
   edge of the pool.

   Sat 15 Nov Ground Cuckoo-Shrike, Black Falcons Seven Mile Lagoon
   A pair of Ground Cuckoo-Shrikes, and 3 Black Falcons along Jimba Road.
   c.40 Banded Lapwings including c. 10+ young birds from fluff balls to
   fully fledged and flying - various locations - mainly along Banool Rd.

   Fri 14 Nov Pectoral Sandpiper Dowse Lagoon, Sandgate
   Dark streaks on the breast with a strong demarcation, often adopting an
   upright, rather elegant stance, seemed somewhat nervous - frequently
   looking to the sky. Second visit to confirm ID in the afternoon showed
   obvious yellow/orange colour to the base of the bill. Hanging out with
   a small number of Sharpies and Curlew Sandpipers. Water in the middle
   of the lagoon has all dried up, the bird was located in front of the
   island, on the edge of the body of water that passes in front of the
   island. Best viewed from the east in front of the railings, or from the
   Keogh St side.

   Cotton Pygmy Goose Lake Kurwongbah, Petrie - off Torrens Road.
   Solitary Cotton Pygmy Goose swimming close to shoreline. Other species
   in immediate area, Royal Spoonbill, Whiskered Tern & Glossy Ibis.

   Wed 12 Nov Apostlebird & Grey-crowned Babbler Samford Valley
   Parties of 4 Apostlebirds and 5 Grey-crowned Babblers this morning in
   the Wights Mountain Rd area

   Black-necked Stork Ipswich-Rosewood Road, Jeebropilly
   Same pair as yesterday, still on this tiny dam, in a region scattered
   with big dams and wetlands. Stopped this morning (06:40) to take a
   couple of pics on my phone. Sorry about the poor quality though!

   Tue 11 Nov Black-necked Stork Ipswich-Rosewood Road, Jeebropilly
   Two adults sighted in a small dam 270m east of where the
   Ipswich-Rosewood Rd crosses the Bremer River, and approx 20m north of
   the road. Google gives the co-ordinates as -27.648225, 152.638982. Have
   not seen them on this small dam before. Time was approx 06:50.

   Mon 10 Nov Asian Dowitcher Toorbul Wader Roost
   The Asian Dowitcher is still presenting at the Toorbul wader roost (I
   tried really hard to turn it into another Long-billed Dowitcher as has
   shown up in NSW).

   Sun 9 Nov White Throated Needletails Eddie Kornhauser Park Elanora
   150 Needletails from 10 to 30m. Light NE wind .Feeding .Drifted away to
