Published sightings for the week ending 12 Oct 2014.

Sun 12 Oct Square-tailed Kite Samford Conservation Park
Good views of a Square-tailed Kite flying low over the canopy (heading
north-east) along The Chute, at approx. 4.30 pm. STKs are occasionally
seen around Keperra and Ferny Grove, but thought it to be worth noting
as a record for Samford CP.

Sat 11 Oct Apostlebird Wight's Mtountain, Samford Valley
Two nests of Apostlebirds discoverd with 2 attending adults to each. .
One nest had 3 chicks and the other was under construction. I won't
post the specific location, but this relect population seems to be
   doing OK.

white-winged Triller Mountain View Court, Samford Valley
A spot I had White-winged Triller the past two years has turned them up
again this year. At the corner of Wight's Mtn Road and Mountain View
Ct. just a few K's from the Samford 'cbd'. Also in this area are good
numbers of Little Friarbirds, a family of Grey-crowned Babblers and
goods numbers of Striated and Rainbow Beeeaters nesting in the sandy
   banks.

Thu 9 Oct Nankeen Kestrel Orange Grove Rd / Kessels Rd intersection,
   Salisbury
I was surprised to see a Kestrel hovering above the road this morning
on my way to uni. Occasionally I will see Black-shouldered Kites in
this area, but this is the first Kestrel I've seen. Perhaps it followed
the Rocky Waterholes creekline from the Oxley Creek Common area or the
Brisbane Golf Club. Archerfield Airport is also nearby as the Kestrel
   flies... :)

Painted Button-Quail Mount Ngungun, Glass House Mountains
I heard rustling through the leaf litter near the summit and was
surprised to see a colourful female foraging among the stones and
   grasses.

Again, a vaguely remembered call, followed by a brief, but clear
   sighting

9:45am. Family of 7 Grey-crowned Babblers at top of steps leading into
Walter Zimmerman from Kirkston Place playground. Follows on from 5

   Port Alma Rd (restricted access)
3 Australian Bustards (1 adult male and 2 adult females) were the
highlights of a day along Bajool-Port Alma Rd. Also at least 2 Zitting
Cisticolas (aerial display) and at least one Golden-headed Cisticola
(allowing for comparison). No signs of the Yellow Chats though.
Attached one of Raja's photos of two of the Australian Bustards (male
out in the open, female visible in the long grass next to it).

   Sat 4 Oct Black-breasted Button-quail, White-eared Monarch Inskip Point
   Recreation Area
Stopped in at Inskip point on the 1st and again on the 4th. I walked
along the pedestrian track past the roundabout. On both days a
White-eared Monarch was about 10m along the track on the left side and
a female Black-breasted Button Quail was around the large fig towards
   the end of the track.
