I lived in Wyndham for 6 years in the early noughties. Those Guinea fowl
were pets of the local general store owners (house immediately west of
caravan park entrance) for many decades handed down from parents to
daughter and her subsequent family when they took over the store on
parent's retirement. Now she too has left (about 2010) and they have been
abandoned so continue to feed on the oval every day as they used to when
let out in the evenings. They would be many generations old now and were
there last year in September in big numbers.
Interestingly, a chap at "6 Mile community" used to breed Gouldians and his
extensive avaries are still there just on the right as you cross the bridge
heading to Kununurra. He still lives there.
