Just had a couple of days birding near Payne's Find NE of Perth. I visited a seasonal wetland on both afternoons. I was surprised to see 28 White-faced Herons on the lake on the second afternoon, with none there the day before. It looks they are on the move. Not certain where from, and not certain where to. I have seen them move around the south west (500 once at Lake Muir east of Manjimup), but this is inland.

The other surprise were the wetlands. Three were mostly full, while two others were totally dry (not even damp), and they are all only about a kilometre apart.
