Further to my email about white-breasted dark brown ducks in the Low Countries, I'd like to add that they are present in some numbers in the Middle Rhine. As was established previously, they are a domestic form of Mallard that seems to have taken 'free range' to the extreme. However, what is interesting is the continuation of the plumage colours despite many more 'wild' Mallards in the populations I have seen. There are other Mallards with unusual plumage probably reflecting domestic strains. I have been surprised by the numbers of feral Canada Geese and apparently feral Egyptian Geese. Both seem more common than native geese.
