I am glad that Charles has make the point about dogs being banned from roaming outside their owner's premises. I am required by law to register, have her microchipped or wear a name tag and contact telephone niumber, and control my pet dog. I am able to report stray dogs to Council, and the Council will capture the dog and the owner will pay a fine to retrieve it. If I capture a cat and take it to Council, I am required to "prove" that it does not belong to a neighbour. The cat owner is not required by law to identify or control the animal. Believe me, I am also a total animal lover and happily cuddle my granddaughter's cat, a lovely old soft purry animal, but the total unfairness of it all angers me. Shirley Cook |
