Hi Don,

Granite Gorge Nature Park is a really good spot for them - it's ~14 km from
Mereeba. The birds here are usually the integrade form of Pale-headed Rosella
i.e. they're an intervening mix between the northern palliceps ssp (the
'Blue-cheeked Rosella') and the southern adscitus ssp (the 'Pale-headed
Rosella'). Birds such as Squatter Pigeon, Bar-shouldered Dove, Red-winged
Parrot and Great Bowerbird are also common, and you'll literally be kicking
Mareeba Rock Wallaby out of the way!

Cheers,

Tim

Hi Folks. I was wondering if anyone can make some recommendations where I
might enjoy good viewing with possible filming opportunities of Pale-headed
Rosella in the Cairns - Mareeba area. Barring that anywhere on the
Atherton Tablelands. But prefer within a couple hours of Cairns. I
remember someone a couple years ago had them nesting in their yard but cant
remember where that was. Thanks as always for such a rich resource here at
Birding-Aus!
