Birdline Northern Territory

Published sightings for the week ending 1 Dec 2013.

Thu 28 Nov Yellow-billed Spoonbill, Black-tailed Godwit Tennant Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant
Was there nice and early while passing through. Yellow-billed Spoonbill (16) I thought that seeing 7 at Alice Springs was good! Certainly has been the year of the Y-Bill in the NT!! Black-tailed Godwit (1) In large SW pond. Lone bird, wading with Spoonbills and Stilts

Freckled Duck, Black Swan Longreach Waterhole, Elliot
Freckled Duck (8) 7,1 at least: within 200m of each other. dispersed amongst small group of teals Black Swan (300) Fantastic sight, spread throughout whole waterway Mid afternoon visit while in the area. covered the main access point and then northward for 1km. Water level was 'EXTREMELY' low ie a good 50-70m from what I have observed previously. Of course this concentrated birds immensely. A couple of dead pelicans observed.
