Mon 25 Nov Spotted Whistling-Duck Lockhart River Sewage Ponds, Queensland
Hot, humid with approaching thunderstorm Spotted Whistling-Duck (3) 2 on edge and one in water which moved out to join the others. All adults. Observed for 10 minutes in 60x objective at 50m.

Thu 21 Nov Asian Brown Flycatcher Browse Island, Timor Sea, WA, Western Australia
A juvenile Asian Brown Flycatcher was photographed on Browse Island on the 21 November. This is just the second record for Western Australia, following on from one in April 2012 at the same site.

Blue and White Flycatcher Browse Island, Timor Sea, WA, Western Australia
A cracking adult male was present on Browse Island on the 21 Nov. First record for Browse Island and the third record for Western Australia.

Sat 16 Nov Dark-sided Flycatcher and Asian Brown Flycatcher West Island, Ashmore Reef, Ashmore and Cartier Islands
Amongst other rarities on Ashmore Reef were single Dark-sided Flycatcher (present for just one day on the 18 Nov) and Asian Brown Flycatcher (present from the 16-19 Nov). Asian Brown Flycatcher is becoming increasingly common with 10+ records since 2003 but this is just the fourth Dark-sided Flycatcher reported in Australia.

Willow Warbler West Island, Ashmore Reef, Ashmore and Cartier Islands
A Willow Warbler was photographed and sound recorded on Ashmore Reef in mid Nov. Pending acceptance by BARC this is the first record for Australia.

Northern Boobook (aka Brown Hawk-Owl) West Island, Ashmore Reef, Ashmore and Cartier Islands
A single Brown Hawk-Owl was flushed from a large shrub on West Island, Ashmore Reef. The bird was only seen in flight as it departed the island.

Thu 14 Nov Chinese Sparrowhawk West Island, Ashmore Reef, Ashmore and Cartier Islands
An immature Chinese Sparrowhawk present for two days from the 14 Nov was the first for Ashmore.

Wed 13 Nov Arctic Warbler, Kamchatka Leaf Warbler, Middendorff's Warbler West Island, Ashmore Reef, Ashmore and Cartier Islands
Amongst other rarities on Ashmore Reef, Arctic Warbler, Kamchatka Leaf Warbler (2) and Middendorff's Warbler were sighted on West Island. In addition to photographs, sound recordings of the diagnostic contact calls of both the Arctic and Kamchatka Leaf Warblers were obtained.

An immature (brown bird) was present on West Island for a number of days. This is the first record for Ashmore Reef.
