Maybe I should clarify, my point was not against posting a message like this
on B-A. Beneficial to do so, on the chance it will have a good result (like
this time). My point was about taking away an object without leaving a sign
or taking it to the police (as Denise suggested), on the possibility that
someone may recently have forgotten it and will come back to search. Only
the finder is in a position to judge if it looks likely to have been there
only a short time. Then again leaving something to rust in the bush, is no
help either. Maybe my estimate of the assumption of the owner being a birder
and on this list was not optimistic enough.
