Black Falcon
Griffin
Bird circling high over garden briefly in afternoon before heading off west. Big all dark falcon, heavily built - even local magpies decided it would be best to leave this raptor alone!
Assume the same bird that Nikolas and Raja had at Kedron Brook wetlands during the week.
Apologies for image quality - into the sun and bird distant by time I got the camera out...

White Laughing Kookaburra
Mt Gravatt East-Salvin Creek
I saw the White Laughing Kookaburra by the creek near Salvin Park in Mt Gravatt East. I have never seen one before and at first thought it must have been an albino kookaburra but it has black eyes not pink eyes. It sat on a branch near where I was sitting for about ten minutes. When I went to move closer to it it flew away. It was big and looked very healthy, which is great as they often encounter problems surviving in the wild. It was great to see and I hope I see one again!
