Sat 8 Jun Australian Pratincole Mungalla Station (Forrest Beach, Queensland)
A brief survey of the main wetland lagoon prior to the launch of the Girringun Region Indigenous Protected Area. Overcast, windy. Australian Pratincole (3)

Sat 8 Jun Black-breasted Buzzard Rollingstone 10' Cell
Driving from Ingham to Townsville, just past Ollera Ck. Observers Rosemary Payet and Joan Wharton Black-breasted Buzzard was fying parallel to highway and we were able to observe it as we drove. No mistaking the bullseyes in the wings and the short tail. have seen these raptors often in the Centre.

Little Lorikeet Kingfisher Park Birdwatchers Lodge
Uncommon in area, two flew over Mt. Kooyong Road and Kingfisher Park Birdwatchers Lodge calling on 8th. Usually found further west on the Atherton Tableland but previous records from Julatten.

Thu 6 Jun Grey Goshawk Paluma Forest Reserve 10' Cell
Grey Goshawk (1) Excellent closeup views just south of Little Crystal Ck. Flew into tree on roadside after being disturbed by the preceding car. We stopped and looked and Rosemary eyeballed it in the tree - before we saw it fly off.

Wed 5 Jun Blue-faced Parrot-Finch McDougall Road, Julatten
One flew in front of five observers near end of McDougall Road where rainforest from surrounding hills stops.

Sun 2 Jun Sooty Oystercatcher Townsville Harbour
Observation from Magnetic Island Ferry returning to Townsville; focus on the eastern rocky spit within the harbour where terns and silver gulls often aggregate/roost. The two Sooty Oystercatchers of particular interest, not common in harbour. Sooty Oystercatcher (2) at the end of the rocky spit, presumably high tide roost

Sat 1 Jun Little Kingfisher Kingfisher Park Birdwatchers Lodge
Uncommon, sightings most years, usually at Crake Pool in orchard. This sighting was by a guest.who reported it to Keith Fisher.

White-browed Woodswallow Harvey Range Road
17 White-browed Woodswallows feeding in a flowering gumtree about 3km before bottom of the range. Moderator's Note: - Uncommon in this area.

Thu 30 May Great-billed Heron Cairns Botanic Gardens (incl. Centenary Lakes)
Great-billed Heron (1) photographed on Saltwater Creek. (Moderator Note:- This species appears at at this location most years and is probably from a breeding pair which breed in the mangroves around nearby Cairns Airport).
