Tue 28 May Black-breasted Button-quail Inskip Point
Melbourne Birders visited Inskip Point today. Read the Gympie Times report that BBBQ's were absent from Inskip so held out little hope. However happy to spot BBBQ twice. Four of us saw the birds(s). First sighting watched female working on platelet. Lots of new platelets. Don't know whether it was two birds seen or one twice. Second sighting bird crossed the path in SW corner 250 mts from roundabout left of path. Got a cryptic photo of bird squatting. Also great birding with Varied Triller, Red-backed Fairy Wren and lots more. Great spot.

Pacific Gull & Kelp Gull Bribie Island, Bongaree - Brennan Park / Beach front
Just had a call from Paul Walbridge. He and Brian Russell went to check out Bribie and the found an immature Pacific Gull and a second/third year Kelp in the area around the Jetty. The Pacific Gull was just to the north although they saw the birds together.

Budgerigar Tannum Sands
Whilst outside in back yard watching a peregrine falcon harassing birds amongst gum trees next door, a small flock of budgerigars flew over my house, again heading north to south between 12 and 15 birds flying in close formation. Time was 8:50 am. No time to get a photo. Camera was being charged and I would have had only 8 or 10 seconds to do so. Better luck next time if there is one.
Phillip Bosci

Mon 27 May Spotted Harrier, Freckled Duck (2) Lagoon opp Moggill Wetland
1:30 pm Spotted Harrier swooped low over lagoon twice, landed on the ground on the southern side then was chased off by Crows

Budgerigar Tannum Sands
Five budgies flew over my back yard at 9:20 am this morning about 8 meters of the ground heading from the north towards the south. They did not land so was unable to take a photo. This is only the second time I have seen them here and so close to the coast. The last time was only last month and I submitted a post on this site.Great to see, hope to see more and finally get a photo.

Squatter Pigeon Gatton-Esk rd near Mt. Hallen
Eds (Rob Morris) Note: This record is from the 8th August 2012. I have put today's date so the record will show up on Eremaea so local birders can check the area out. I have not heard of Squatters in this area before. Race scripta; one stood on roadside and crossed after I drove past to join a second; pair foraged in short grass just inside paddock. Very curious.
Tim Wunsch

Sun 26 May Plumed Whistling Duck Gympie
c50 birds on farm dam Brisbane Road and on lake at Matilda Service Centre south of Gympie. Probably same group moving between locations. In area for last 2-3 weeks.

1 White-faced Storm-Petrel (a juv. with a very white rump), 3 Black-bellied Storm Petrels, Providence Petrel, Wilson's Storm-Petrels, Fluttering Shearwater. Quite a quiet day. One of the Black-bellied Storm-Petrel was incredibly pale and only after close examination of the photos was it separable from White-bellied.
Rob Morris - and all on board the Souhport Pelagic organised by Paul Walbridge.

Fri 17 May Blue Bonnet "Barfield" Station via Banana
A pair of Bluebonnets were seen on an early morning walk when disturbed from feeding about 8 metres away. Clearly seen for about 5 minutes. This would make them about 200-300 km outside and north-east of their reported range.
