Hi All, I know many birders on this list have either visited or are very interested in the birds of Papua New Guinea. I got an email last night from the managers of Walindi Resort on New Britain, a well known birding destination - yesterday they found a dead Golden Masked Owl on their property. According to Guy Dutson's excellent guide on the birds of Melanesia this species is known from only two field sightings and a handful of specimens, so this is quite a find! They have emailed me some photos of the bird which I'd be happy to forward on to anyone interested.
