It's my sad task to inform readers about some of the birds shot on opening weekend of the season around Kerang. This is a list of dead birds recovered from the water at a very dry, receding Lake Bael Bael and another wetland nearby, displayed outside the Premier's Office today (18/3). Another couple of hundred wetlands around the state hosted duck shooting but were not monitored. 1 Blue-billed Duck 3 Red-necked Avocet 5 Eurasian Coot 53 Pink-eared Ducks 17 Grey Teal 2 Wood Ducks 1 Hardhead In addition, 80 Freckled Duck were shot at a private wetland near Boort. This is reportedly being investigated. =============================== To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message: unsubscribe (in the body of the message, with no Subject line) to: http://birding-aus.org =============================== |
