G'day Bob

The best field guide to southern Africa is the SASOL guide by Sinclair,
Tarboton, Hockey and Ryan - either as a book or as an iPhone/iPad app. It
omits Zambia however so another option is the Birds of Africa South of the
Sahara by Sinclair and Ryan.

I would also get a copy of the Southern African Birdfinder. An excellent
"where to find birds" book.

Another is the excellent little book "LBJs made simple" by Newman and King
for extra help on the tricky brown weavers, cisticolas, larks and pipits.

The nice folk at www.simplybirding.com would be happy to give you advice as
well.

Cheers
