I have seen the (admittedly captive) Emus at the Kalkari Centre in Ku-Ring-Gai NP (N Sydney) wallowing in the small pond at the far point on the track from the visitor centre on a very hot day a number of years ago (could have been 1996). My parents were visiting at the time - we reckoned it was a cooling off strategy.
