Dear All Need some help to ID some night flying creatures. I too am at Palm Cove for the eclipse and like everyone else was too engrossed with the spectacle we were witnessing to notice what the birds were doing. I'm just across from the netted beach pool on the northernmost end of the beach. There is a bright light which must be attracting insects and also what I suspect are insectivorous bats. But do any birds do this sort of behaviour also? They are too small and fast for me to see clearly. There are a few vocal beach stone curlews around too.
